Alain Touraine
Alain Touraine (French: [tuʁɛn]; 3 August 1925 – 9 June 2023) was a French sociologist. He was the research director at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales.[1] He founded the Centre d'étude des mouvements sociaux. He was best known for being the originator of the term "post-industrial society".[2]

He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 1990.[3]
Touraine died in Paris, France on 9 June 2023, at the age of 97.[4]
