Alford plea
Alford pleas are when one pleads guilty in court but maintains innocence and does not admit to official criminal acts. The pleader in question knows evidence exists for a conviction on criminal counts if that person goes to trial.[1]
Alford pleas are accepted within U.S. Courts, although the U.S. states of Indiana, Michigan and New Jersey do not accept Alford and no contest pleas. Furthermore, they are not allowed under United States military courts.
