Arrondissement of Nantua

The arrondissement of Nantua is an arrondissement of France in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its capital is the city of Nantua.

History

When the Ain department was created on 1800, the arrondissement of Nantua was part of that original department.[1]

Geography

It is found in the northern half of the department with an area of 837.0 km2 (323.2 sq mi).[2] It has 84,640 inhabitants and a density of 101.1 inhabitants/km².[3]

The arrondissement of Nantua is bordered to the north by the Jura department, to the northeast by the arrondissement of Gex, to the east by the Haute-Savoie department, to the south by the arrondissement of Belley and to the west by the arrondissement of Bourg-en-Bresse.
