Carwyn Jones
Carwyn Howell Jones (born 21 March 1967[1]) is a Welsh politician. He was the First Minister of Wales from 2009 to 2018. He was the 3rd person to lead the Welsh Government. He has been Assembly Member for Bridgend since 1999. In the coalition government of Labour and Plaid Cymru, he was made Counsel General for Wales and Leader of the House on 19 July 2007. He was elected to succeed Rhodri Morgan as the leader of the Welsh part of the Labour Party (UK) in December 2009.[2] On 9 December he was made First Minister by the National Assembly for Wales. He was sworn into office the following day. Along with some other Assembly Members, he is fluent in the Welsh language, and is also a member of Amnesty International and the Fabian Society.
