Charlotte Mailliard Shultz, RVO (born Charlotte Smith; September 26, 1933 – December 3, 2021) was an American heiress and socialite. She was the Chief of Protocol for the state of California under Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the Chief of Protocol for the City and County of San Francisco under Mayor Ed Lee.[1] She was born in Borger, Texas.
Mailliard was married to United States Secretary of State George P. Shultz from 1997 until his death in February 2021.[2]
Mailliard died on December 3, 2021 from problems caused by breast cancer in Stanford, California at the age of 88.[3]
