Convair R3Y Tradewind
The Convair R3Y Tradewind is a US military flying boat. It was first flown in 1954. The R3Y was used by Squadron VR-2 of the US Navy. It has four turboprop engines. The front of the R3Y-2 would open for loading and it had a high cockpit. It was intended to be taxied (moved in the water) to a beach like a landing craft.[1] But pilots found it too hard to control.[1]
