Cubbon Park
Cubbon Park is a popular public park in Bangalore, Karnataka. It is also called Sri Chamarajendra Park, named after Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar, the ruler of the former Kingdom of Mysore.[1]
The park was founded in 1870 by Major General Richard Sankey, who was then the Chief Engineer of Mysore. At first, it was called Meade's Park, after the then acting commissioner of Mysore, Sir John Meade. Later, it was renamed to honor Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar.[2]
Cubbon Park covers an area of about 300 acres (1.2 square kilometers). It has many green trees, walking paths and open spaces where people come to relax, walk, jog and enjoy nature. The park is located in the heart of Bangalore and is one of the city's most peaceful places.
Inside the park, there are many important buildings such as the Karnataka High Court, the State Central Library, and the Government Museum. It also has statues of famous people like Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and Chamarajendra Wadiyar.
Cubbon Park is home to many types of plants and trees, including both native and exotic species. It is also a place where many birds and small animals can be seen. Because of its natural beauty and history, it is visited by locals and tourists every day. [3] [4] [5]
