Dakota City, Nebraska
Dakota City is a city in Dakota County, Nebraska, United States. As of the 2020 census, 2,081 people lived there.[2] It is the county seat of Dakota County.[4]

History
Dakota City was platted in 1856.[5] It was named for the Dakota people.[6] Dakota City was incorporated as a city in 1858.[7]

Dakota City is at 42°24′55″N 96°25′4″W / 42.41528°N 96.41778°W (42.415294, -96.417808).[8]
The city has a total area of 1.56 square miles (4.04 km2). Of that, 1.44 square miles (3.73 km2) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 km2) is water.[1]

As of the 2020 census, there were 2,081 people, 661 households, and 478 families living in Dakota City.[2][10]

Emmanuel Lutheran Church was the first Lutheran church constructed in Nebraska. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
