Biography
Schmidt was born in Illinois, United States on February 3, 1992. After graduating from Chuo University, he joined J1 League club Vegalta Sendai in 2014. In April, he moved to J2 League club Roasso Kumamoto on loan. He played 4 matches and returned to Sendai in May. In June 2015, he moved to Kumamoto on loan again. He played as regular goalkeeper. In 2016, he moved to J2 club Matsumoto Yamaga FC on loan and played 41 matches in 1 season. In 2017, he returned to Sendai. He played many matches at Sendai and won the 2nd place in the 2018 Emperor's Cup. In July 2019, he moved to Belgian First Division A club Sint-Truidense.
On November 16, 2018, Schmidt debuted for the Japan national team against Venezuela. In 2019, he also played at 2019 Asian Cup and Japan won the 2nd place.
