Department of Government Efficiency
The Department of Government Efficiency[a] (DOGE) is a planned commission announced by Donald Trump, the current president-elect of the United States, for his second term as U.S. president. It will be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. It will not be an official government department.

Musk said that he believes that the commission could lower the U.S. federal budget by $2 trillion. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, has supported the idea.
Despite the name, it is unlikely to be a federal executive department, which are created through an act of Congress, and is more likely to be part of the Executive Office of the President or a presidential commission working closely with the Office of Management and Budget.[1][2]
Trump said that the commission's work will end no later than July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.[3][4]
