Earl G. Graves Sr.

Earl Gilbert Graves Sr. (January 9, 1935 – April 6, 2020) was an American businessman, publisher and philanthropist. He was an advocate of African-American businesses. He was the founder of Black Enterprise magazine and chairman of the media company Earl G. Graves, Ltd. He was the director for Aetna and an Executive Board member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was the father of Earl G. Graves Jr.

Graves was born in Brooklyn, New York City. He grew up in Brooklyn's Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood. Graves died on April 6, 2020 due to Alzheimer's disease in White Plains, New York. He was 85.[1]
