Eaton Township is a township located in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, 1,644 people lived in the township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 37.3 sq mi (97 km2). 36.2 sq mi (94 km2) of this area is land and 1.1 sq mi (2.8 km2) of it is water. The total area is 3.03% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,644 people, 651 households, and 451 families living in the township. The population density is 45.4 people per sq mi (17.5/km²). There are 842 housing units. The racial makeup of the township is 98.72% White, 0.12% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. 0.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 651 households. Of these. 31.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a woman without a husband, and 30.6% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 3.02.

In the township, the population varies in age. Of the total population, 25.5% are under the age of 18, 4.6% are from 18 to 24, 27.9% are from 25 to 44, 24.2% are from 45 to 64 and 17.8% are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.2 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $37,174. The median income for a family is $50,132. Males have a median income of $30,817 versus $20,893 for females. The per capita income for the township is $18,464. 6.5% of the population and 3.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total number of people living in poverty, 7.2% are under the age of 18 and 7.1% are 65 or older.
