The radio station has one of the highest ratings among propaganda-free media in Belarus.[3][4]

The site of European Radio for Belarus can't be opened in Belarus.[5][6] It has been writing about the 2020 Belarusian protests and 2020 Belarusian presidential election, so journalists of the European Radio for Belarus have been tried and arrested for that.[7][8][9] On July, 5, 2021, the Government of Belarus shut the house of European Radio for Belarus in Minsk.[10] Since July 8, 2021, the second website of European Radio for Belarus can't be opened in Belarus.[11]

In 2021 and 2022, Belarusian courts added the Telegram, YouTube, Instagram pages of the radio and its logo to the Republican list of extremist materials;[12] in July 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus named it as an extremist group.[13] In 2022 and 2023, several people who have been interviewed by the radio were arrested and imprisoned for it on charges of helping extremist activity.[14][15][16]
