Franco Columbu

Francesco Columbu (August 7, 1941 – August 30, 2019) was an Italian actor, author, champion bodybuilder, powerlifter and World's Strongest Man competitor.[1] He was born in Ollolai, Sardinia located off the coast of Italy. He was known for his roles in Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator. Franco Columbu won the Mr. Olympia in 1976 and again in 1981 after Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was a close friend, retired from bodybuilding.

He started his career as a boxer before getting into bodybuilding competitions. Columbu was a licensed chiropractic doctor who earned his degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1977 and maintained a chiropractic practice in Los Angeles, California.

Columbu drowned after having a heart attack on August 30, 2019 in San Teodoro at the age of 78.[2]
