Fred Bass
Fred Bass (June 28, 1928 – January 3, 2018) was an American businessman. He was born in New York City. He was best known as the owner of New York City's Strand Bookstore, which was founded by his father Ben Bass.[1] Bass joined the family business at the age of 13, working weekends with his father when Strand was located on 4th Avenue.[2]
His daughter Nancy is married to United States senator from Oregon Ron Wyden.[3]
Bass died on January 3, 2018 in Manhattan, New York of congestive heart failure at the age of 89.[4]
