History and name
The village has existed since at least 1070 and is named after a man from the 6th century called "Fuko".
In 2004, a vote was held to change the village name, but the villagers voted not to change it. However, the village finally changed its name to Fugging on January 1st, 2021. The previous similar sounding original name was considered too offensive.
