Gary Austin

Gary Austin (October 18, 1941 – April 1, 2017) was an American improvisational theatre teacher, writer, and director. He wrote two solo shows, "Church" and "Oil," and performed them coast to coast. His most recent show was "Gary Austin in Word And Song". He directed the improvisational group The Groundlings.

Austin was born in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was raised in Dallas, Texas and in Santa Fe Springs, California. He studied at San Francisco State University. was married to Wenndy MacKenzie from 1990 until he died in 2017. They had one son together.

Austin died on April 1, 2017 of cancer in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 75.[1]
