George Edward Glass

George Edward Glass is an American businessman and diplomat who has been the United States Ambassador to Japan since 2025. He was the United States Ambassador to Portugal from 2017 to 2021.[1]

His nomination as U.S. Ambassador to Portugal was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 3, 2017.[2]

Glass was the owner of MGG Development LLC in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He founded Pacific Crest Securities in Portland, Oregon in 1990 and served as the company's president until 2014.

He is a trustee for Oregon Health & Science University and a former trustee for the University of Oregon.[3][4]

In December 2024, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Glass to serve as the United States Ambassador to Japan. His nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in April 2025.
