George Rodger

George William Adam Rodger (19 March 1908 – 24 July 1995)[2] was a British photojournalist. He was well-known for his photography work in Africa and for documenting people's deaths at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at the end of World War II.

Background

Rodger's first wife, Cicely, who traveled a lot with him in Africa, passed away in 1949 while giving birth. In 1952, he married Lois "Jinx" Witherspoon, his assistant from America, and they had two sons together. One of their sons, Peter, was a filmmaker in Britain. Rodger was the grandfather of Elliot Rodger, the man responsible for the 2014 Isla Vista killings.[3][4][5]
