Islam in South Asia
Islam is the second largest practiced religion in the Indian subcontinent, after Hinduism. There are approximately 570 million Muslims worldwide living in the Indian subcontinent (especially India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan). There are 4 South Asian countries which have Islam as the majority religion, which are the Maldives, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Islam is the second largest religion in India, while in Nepal and Sri Lanka, it is the third largest religion.
