Italian protectorate of Albania (1939–1943)
The Italian protectorate of Albania, also known as Italian Albania, the Kingdom of Albania or Greater Albania, was a protectorate and puppet state of the Kingdom of Italy that existed from 1939–1943.
History
in 1939, Italy invaded Albania and Italy was successful and formed a protectorate/Puppet state.
in 1940, Italy invaded Greece but were not successful. But the next year. Italy (and the axis) defeated Yugoslavia in an invasion and then managed to defeat Greece and Italian Albania annexed more land from Yugoslavia.
in 1943, Italy surrendered to the Allies and the axis launched Operation Achse. Albania would be occupied by the Germans until 1944 when Albania was liberated by the Albanian National Liberation Movement.
