José Eduardo dos Santos
José Eduardo dos Santos (August 28, 1942 – July 8, 2022)[3] is an Angolan politician. From 1979 until 2017, he was the President of Angola.[4] As President, dos Santos was also the commander in chief of the Angolan Armed Forces. After leaving the presidency, dos Santos remained leader of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA).

Dos Santos died on July 8, 2022 at a hospital in Barcelona, Spain from cardiopulmonary arrest caused by cancer, aged 79.[5][6]
