Kannada News Today is a regional news platform based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, [1] [2] [3][4] which has received a Regional Award. [5] [6] It was founded in March 2019 by journalist Satish Raj Goravigere, [7] [8] [9] who received the Media Contribution Award in 2024 [10] and the Rajyotsava Honor in 2023. [11]

In 2025, Satish B Gudagenatti,[12] a former MLA candidate in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly election from Belagavi Rural, [13][14][15][16] joined as Senior Editor [17][18][19][20]

The platform publishes news in the Kannada language and operates alongside its English-language sister site, Timesnib, which covers national and international news. [21][22]

It is noted as the first news outlet in Karnataka to introduce AI-based news anchors and use digital innovations in news presentation. [23] [24]

Recognition and initiatives

Kannada News Today [25] [26] has received several recognitions:

  • The platform started the Sadhana Awards to recognize journalists for community-level reporting in different parts of the state. [34] [35]

In 2024, it also launched media literacy workshops in rural areas and government colleges, working with educators and journalists to help counter misinformation.[36] [37] [38] [39]
