The Kansas City Scouts was a National Hockey League (NHL) team. They were an expansion (new addition) team to the league in 1974. They played two seasons in Kansas City, Missouri. While in Kansas City, they were a member of the Smythe Division. They were named the Scouts, after a well-known statue from the city.[1] The team then moved to Denver, Colorado, and changed their name to the Colorado Rockies. In 1982, they moved again to New Jersey, and changed their name to the New Jersey Devils.
