Kimba the White Lion

Kimba the white lion is a Japanese television series based on the manga of the same name. It is about a white lion named Kimba who is destined to become king of the jungle, with his grandfather, Pooja. It has been controversy due to being similar to The Lion King, but despite this, it was a success in Japan until it was surpassed by Pokemon (anime). The show had gained a movie in June 1999 called Kimba the White Lion: The Movie, failed at the box office, but gained positive reviews and gained a cult following in Japan. The show spawned several critically panned video games, and the show ended in 2006.

Characters

• Kimba: a brave, kind, and courageous white lion. After keeping cap activity and being found and taken by his grandfather Pooja, Kimba has been trained to become king. He has many friends and can be very shy around newcomers. He has a mate named Lyrene, while in the manga, he was very shy and did not know if he wanted to become king. However, this was toned down in the animated show.
• Pooja: Kimber’s grandfather. Having been strict after taking him in, he softened up and became a loving grandfather. He was known to be teaching wolf club how to be brave through harsh training, disciplining classes. He is very nice towards Kimba, but doesn’t like it when someone comes to harm his son. In the manga, he was very rude to him, and was known to swat him, but in the show, he was very nice towards Kimba. He died at the end of the show series finale.
• Coco: a red deer and Kimba’s friend. She was very kind towards Kimber, but can’t be a bit bumbling, and was known to lead them into trouble. He has a taste for nsima and it’s very clumsy, and can be called an idiot by some other animals. In the manga, he was a fawn instead.
• Seko: a parrot. Kimber’s best friend, he has been known to be very grumpy and snappish and says “Awk!” Between sentences when he was excited, annoyed, or angry, or sad. He hates Crashing into things and he is prone to bouncing off the walls. However, he is really good at seeing, and has a great sense of smell. In the manga, he was instead a macaw.
• Lyrene: Kimba mate and a brown Lion. She is nice to Kimba and has met him for the first time. He is scared of losing him, such as when she believes that Kimba had fallen off a cliff while battling the villain. She is very shy, but is very nice towards Pooja. In the manga, she was a white lion instead.
• Patototo: an evil pathera Lion. He has always wanted to take the throne and has been rivals with Pooja. He is known to be very intelligent and speak very grumpy. He is also snappy and battles Kimba, and her died in the series finale when he was being buried by logs.
• Bampa: A wise panther that is a friend of Pooja. He likes to sleep in his branch and sometimes he and Pooja like to talk to one another. However, he is very grumpy and is prone to injuries, such as falling down and hurting himself. Luckily, he sometimes falls into the softest place, like a bush or a tree.
• Pako: a Kangaroo that is known to be Kimber’s strict teacher. However, he’s known to get thorns all over him. He has a Joey named Buck.
• Buck: Pako’s son. He’s very strict alongside him,.
