Kyaw Myo Min

Kyaw Myo Min (Burmese: ကျော်မျိုးမင်း; pronounced: [kjo̰ mjo̰ mɪ́ɴ]; born Myanmar) is a Burmese journalist. He is the founder and editor of NP News, a news outlet in Myanmar. NP News gained attention after the 2021 military coup in Myanmar.[1]

Early life

Kyaw Myo Min was born in Myanmar. Information about his early life and family background is not widely available.[2][3][4]

Career

Kyaw Myo Min started his journalism career at Pyi Myanmar Journal.[5][6] He later became the editor-in-chief of Akon Thi Media. In 2021, following the military coup, he founded NP News.[7][8] The outlet has been known for its coverage of the military government and its critical reports on opposition groups, including the National Unity Government (NUG) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF).[9]

NP News has faced criticism from groups opposing the military government.[10][11] Conversely, other observers argue that NP News offers an alternative viewpoint in a highly polarized media environment.[12][13] However, it continues to operate in Myanmar.[14][15][16][17][18]

Kyaw Myo Min was awarded the Media Professional Excellence Award by Season Media in Nepal for his contributions to journalism.[19][20][21]
