Lorenzo Elliott Semple III (March 27, 1923 – March 28, 2014), better known as Lorenzo Semple Jr., was an American screenwriter and playwright. He was best known for his work on the campy television series Batman. He also wrote the movies Papillon, The Parallax View (1974), Three Days of the Condor (1975), Flash Gordon (1980), and Never Say Never Again (1983). He was born in New Rochelle, New York.

Semple died from natural causes on March 28, 2014 at his home in Los Angeles, California. He died a day after his 91st birthday.[1]
