Mary Lambert
Mary Lambert (born May 3, 1989) is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known for singing on the rapper Macklemore's single "Same Love" from 2012. It sold over 2 million copies in the United States.
Early life
Lambert was born in Everett, Washington. When she was 17 she came out as a lesbian.[1] She moved to Seattle in 2007. She lives there with her girlfriend Rachel.[2]
Career
Lambert released her first extended play Letters Don't Talk on July 17, 2012. The next day "Same Love" was released as a single from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' album The Heist. Lambert sung on it and helped write the song. The single reached number one in Australia and New Zealand.
In January 2013, her first book of poetry, 500 tips for fat girls, was published.[3]
In May 2013, she sang "Same Love" on The Colbert Report.[4]
Lambert released the video for her single "She Keeps Me Warm" in August 2013.[5] Lambert's second extended play, Welcome to the Age of My Body, was released on December 17, 2013.
She will release her first album in 2014.[6] She was nominated for two awards at the 2014 Grammys. Lambert performed "Same Love" at the ceremony.[7]
