Geography
Location
The village of Metzeral is nestled in the heart of the Fecht Valley, at the junction of the Mittlach and Sondernach valleys, 6 km upstream from Munster. The municipal territory includes a wide strip of ridges, even beyond the neighboring village of Mittlach.
Geology and relief
Metzeral owes its reputation to the mountains that surround it.
Located at an altitude of approximately 490 meters, Metzeral has some 1,100 inhabitants.
Its location in the heart of the Vosges mountains is an asset from a tourist point of view.
