Mission is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States. It is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. In 2020, 9,954 people lived there.[3]

Mission is at 39°1′36″N 94°39′25″W / 39.02667°N 94.65694°W / 39.02667; -94.65694 (39.026774, -94.656962). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 2.68 square miles (6.94 km2). Of that, 2.67 square miles (6.92 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.[2]

2020 census

The 2020 census says there were 9,954 people, 5,295 households, and 2,240 families living in Mission. Of the households, 46.6% owned their home and 53.4% rented their home.

The median age was 35.6 years. Of the people, 77.3% were White, 4.8% were Black, 4.0% were Asian, 0.4% were Native American, 0.1% were Pacific Islanders, 3.2% were from some other race, and 10.2% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.4% of the people.[3][6]

2010 census

The 2010 census[7] says there were 9,323 people, 5,000 households, and 2,130 families living in Mission.
