N. R. Madhava Menon

Neelakanta Ramakrishna Madhava Menon (4 May 1935 – 8 May 2019) was an Indian lawyer and educator. He has been called the main figure of modern legal education in India. He was founder and director of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and the National Judicial Academy. He also served as founder and vice-chancellor of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS). Menon was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, by the government in 2003. He was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Menon died of liver cancer in Thiruvananthapuram on 8 May 2019. He was 84.[1]
