Nargiz Birk-Petersen

Nargiz Birk-Petersen (Azerbaijani: Nərgiz Birk-Petersen; née Nargiz Abbaszadeh, born 1976)[1] is an Azerbaijani television presenter and commentator. On 22, 24 and 26 May 2012 she hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan together with Eldar Gasimov and Leyla Aliyeva.[2]

Nargiz Birk-Petersen's mother is Maleyka Abbaszadeh, the head of the State Committee for Student Admission of Azerbaijan.[3] She has a sister named Nigar. At the age of 16, Nargiz had her first experience in television. During her student years, Nargiz also worked for Student TV at her alma mater Khazar University, as a reporter of an English language news program for the company. Later Nargiz studied law in the United States, where she had a modelling career to provide financial support for her studies. She continued to practice law in the United States and Russia. She was head of the department of public relations for the Baku bid for the 2020 Summer Olympics.[3]

She is married to Ulrik Birk-Petersen. They live in Copenhagen, Denmark with their two children.[3]
