National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto

The museum has modern art, including Japanese-style painting (nihonga), Western-style painting (yōga), prints, sculpture, crafts and photography.[4]

The Museum is currently undergoing renovation and will reopen in April 2012.

History

MOMAK was established in 1963. In the early days, it was a part of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. It was an annex.[5]

In 1967, this annex became the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.[5]

The current building was designed by Fumihiko Maki. It was opened in 1986.[5]
