Noel Ignatiev

Noel Ignatiev (/ɪɡˈnætiɛv/; December 27, 1940 – November 9, 2019) was an American author and historian. He was best known for his work on race and social class and for his call to end "whiteness".

Ignatiev was the co-founder of the New Abolitionist Society and co-editor of the journal Race Traitor, which pushed for the idea that "treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity"

He also wrote a book on antebellum northern xenophobia against Irish immigrants, How the Irish Became White. His publisher called him as "one of America's leading and most controversial historians".[2]

Ignatiev died from an intestine infection at a hospital in Tucson, Arizona on November 9, 2019 at the age of 78.[3]
