Osawatomie, Kansas
Osawatomie is a city in Miami County, Kansas, United States. it is 61 miles (98 km) southwest of Kansas City. In 2020, 4,255 people lived there.[3] Its name is a portmanteau from two streams nearby, the Osage and Potawatomie.

Geography
Osawatomie is at 38°30′6″N 94°57′3″W / 38.50167°N 94.95083°W (38.501650, -94.950799),[4] along the Marais des Cygnes River. The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 5.34 square miles (13.83 km2). Of that, 5.25 square miles (13.60 km2) is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 km2) is water.[2]

2020 census
The census of 2020 says there were 4,255 people, 1,562 households, and 1,023 families living in the city. Of the households, 55.3% owned their home and 44.7% rented their home.
The median age was 36.1 years. Of the people, 87.4% were White, 3.2% were Black, 1.0% were Native American, 0.4% were Asian, 0.1% were Pacific Islanders, 0.9% were from some other race, and 7.1% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were4.3% of the people.[3][5]

The census[6] of 2010 says there were 4,447 people, 1,644 households, and 1,075 families living in the city.
Government
The Osawatomie government has a mayor and eight council members. The council meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30PM.[7]
