Panam Ningthou
"Panam Ningthou" (Lua error in Module:Unicode_data at line 468: attempt to index field 'scripts' (a boolean value).) is a male deity of Meitei religion (Sanamahism). He is the protector of the crops, especially paddy.[1] Legend says he ignited the fire by rubbing flints.[2][3] He is mainly worshipped by the people of Loi community (caste people) of Manipur,[4] where religious festival dedicated to him is celebrated in the Meitei lunar month of Lamta (March-April).[5] During the festival, people of Andro village, wear black clothes as a custom.[6][7] He is affiliated to the grouping of Umang Lai (Sylvan deity).[8] Taking his name, there is a real servant class, named "Panam Ningthou Semba", which keep the royalty in all the apparatus of the polo.[9][10][11]
