Sitka spruce

The Sitka spruce tree is one of the Pinaceae tree family. Its botanical name is Picea sitchensis.
The tree is the state tree of U.S. state of Alaska. It can grow almost up to 100 meters tall. It has a shallow root system with long lateral roots and few branches. It is a long-lived tree, and can live for more than 700 years old.
The tree is quite common in the Western coast of Canada.
