Raje

Raje is a fedual honorary title of the elite Kshatriya Rajputs of Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir, India which was historically also used as a title for the Rajput kings or noblemans.[1] In Rajasthan, the Rajput kings and chiefs were known by the titles that include Maharao, Maharawal, Rana, Darbar, Hukum and Maharana which are same as the term Raje.[2]

It was later adopted by some Maratha warriors too. Some clans of the Maratha community put the name Raje before their original clan name. Examples of these include RajeBhosale and RajeShirke.
