Riffat Hassan

Riffat Hassan (born 1943 in Lahore) is a Pakistani-American feminist and Islamic scholar of the Quran.

She studied from Durham University, England and later moved to the United States. She has taught at schools including Oklahoma State University and Harvard University, and is currently a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Louisville, Kentucky

She is a strong supporter of 'Progressive Islam' and of the right of abortion and to the access to contraception for Muslim women.
