Shawn Dean

Shawn Dean McBride (born February 19, 1986) is an American professional wrestler. He currently wrestles for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and for their sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH) under the ring name Capt. Shawn Dean. He is a member of both the Shane Taylor Promotions and its sub-group The Infantry stables.

Professional wrestling career

All Elite Wrestling

On the March 31, 2020 episode of Dark, Dean made his debut for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), losing to Shawn Spears.[1] He then went on a 33-match losing streak.

On March 5, 2021, it was announced by AEW owner Tony Khan that Dean had officially signed a contract to become a member of the AEW roster.[2] On the June 29, 2021 episode of Dark, Dean earned his first victory in AEW after he defeated JDX.[3]

On the January 5, 2022 episode of Dynamite, Dean earned the biggest win of his AEW career when he defeated MJF by disqualification after CM Punk interfered in the match and hit Dean with the Go to Sleep.[4] On the December 7 episode of Dynamite, Dean participated in the battle royal to determine the challenger for the Dynamite Diamond Ring but the match was won by Ricky Starks.[5]

The Infantry entered the tournament to crown the new AEW World Tag Team Championships after they were vacated. They defeated House Of Black (Brody King and Buddy Matthews) in the wild card round.[6] They went on to lose to FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) in the quarter finals.[7]

Personal life

Before wrestling, McBride spent time in the United States Navy and was stationed onboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. McBride graduated from Chicago State University and studied criminal justice.[8]
