Saint Thomas is an island in the Caribbean Sea. It is a county and constituent district of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI). The territorial capital and port of Charlotte Amalie is on the island. As of the 2000 census, Saint Thomas had 51,181 people[1], about 47% of the US Virgin Islands total. The district has a land area of 80.9 km² (31.24 sq mi).
