Steven C. Beering
Steven Claus Beering (August 20, 1932 – April 6, 2020) was a German-born American physician and academic. He most notably served as the president of Purdue University from 1983 to 2000. During his leadership, Purdue's main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana grew by more than 20 buildings.
Beering was born in Berlin. He spent his early years in Hamburg. He moved from Germany to the United States in 1948. He died on April 6, 2020, at the age of 87.[1]
