Sulfur oxide can refer to either of these chemical compounds:

• Sulfur dioxide, sulfur in +4 oxidation state, toxic heavy gas
• Sulfur trioxide, sulfur in +6 oxidation state, irritating liquid, used to make sulfuric acid
