Tanhum Cohen-Mintz
Tanhum "Tani" Cohen-Mintz (8 October 1939 – 11 October 2014) was an Israeli basketball player. A 6 ft 8 1/2 in (2.04 m) center, he played professionally between 1956 and 1972 for Maccabi Tel Aviv. He was also the captain of the Israel national basketball team 86 times between 1959 and 1971. In 1992, he became a member of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
Cohen-Mintz was born in Riga, Latvia to Jewish parents. He also played tennis, to follow his mother, Edith, but was convinced to play basketball due to his height and athletic abilities.
Cohen-Mintz died from cancer on 11 October 2014 in Tel Aviv. He was 75.[1]
