Infobox comics creator may be used to summarise information about a person who is a comics creator.

Usage

The infobox may be added by pasting the template as shown below into an article. Only the name and birth_date parameters are required. For an example, see Jerry Siegel.

Parameter notes

  • name This is the "common name" the comics creator is associated with. Usually this is also the article's title. This field is required to either be completed or deleted. Deleting the field with default to the article title.
  • name_nonEN for names of the comics creator in their own language, if different.
  • Placing images in the infobox uses two fields:
    • image which is just the filname of the image. The template will add the markup to show the image.
      Example: image= example.jpg
    • image_size which is the width the image will display at. The template expects just a number without the px.
  • alt needs to be updated with the alternative text for the image. This is not the same as the caption. It should be kept short, but needs to be descriptive of the image.
  • caption will appear below the image. Keep it short, but indicate the original source published source of the image and the artist(s).
  • birth_name is the comics creators full birth name.
  • birth_date is the comics creator’s date of birth. If living, use {{birth date and age}}, {{birth-date and age}}, {{birth year and age}}, or {{birth based on age as of date}}. If deceased, use {{birth date}} or {{birth-date}}.
  • birth_place is the comics creator’s place of birth.
  • death_date is the comics creator’s date of death (in form already given). If birth date or year is known, use {{death date and age}}, {{death-date and age}}, or {{death year and age}}. Otherwise, use {{death date}} or {{death-date}}.
  • death_place is the comics creator’s place of death.
  • nationality is the comics creator's nationality.
  • area is the main fields in which the comics creator works (i.e. writer, pencils, inks, colorist, letter, etc.). This field can either be entered directly or entered using the following logical fields:
    • manga artist – A creator of manga. If used as the primary or only area, then write, pencil, ink, and art should not be used.
    • cartoonistcartoonist
    • writer – writer
    • pencillerpenciller
    • artist – artist, If used as the primary or only are, then pencil, ink, and color should not be used.
    • inkerinker
    • editor – editor
    • publisher – publisher
    • lettererletterer
    • coloristcolorist
  • alias lists other names the comics creator has worked under.
  • notable works lists the comics creator’s notable creations and/or works.
  • collaborators lists other comics creators that the person has had notable collaborative runs with. Single issue or works collaborations should be avoided.
  • awards lists any awards the comics creator has won.
  • spouse lists the comics creator's spouse(s). Note: Keep WP:BLPNAME in mind with this field. The spouse should be mentioned within the article and intrigal to the reader's understanding of the subject.
  • children
  • relatives lists the comics creator's other relatives. Note: Keep WP:BLPNAME in mind with this field. The spouse should be mentioned within the article and intrigal to the reader's understanding of the subject.
  • signature if available, a scanned image of an artist's signature. As with the main image, only the filename needs to be entered here. The template will automatically limit the image size to 128px.
    • signature_alt needs to be updated with the To keep in line with alternative text for the image. This is not the same as the caption. It should be kept short, but needs to be descriptive of the image.
  • module for an embedded template
  • website for the comics creator's official web site. Official website only. Unofficial websites should be placed under ==External links== in the body of the article. Use {{URL|example.com|optional display text}} as in example.com. Do not include the www. part unless the server requires it. Use camel case capitalization to make multiword domain names easier to read.
  • bodyclass will add a class or classes to the bodyclass. If the hlist parameter is passed, lists can be given as parameters to fields, which will be made into lists that are accessible to those with screen readers
  • nonUS is a logical field for identifying comics creators that either do not work in, or work primarily outside, the US comics market. At present the only affect this has is with the term "colorist" (American spelling) and "colourist" (British spelling),
