Tobata-ku (戸畑区) is a ward of Kitakyūshū, Fukuoka, Japan. It is the smallest ward of Kitakyūshū city. The ward is only 16.66 km2 big. In 2000, the population of the ward was 64,330.

History and Geography

In 1899, the Tobata-cho (Tobata town) was created. The city was merged into Kitakyushu in 1963. It officially became part of the ward on April 1, 1963.
