Treaty of Berlin (1889)
The Treaty of Berlin was signed on June 14, 1889 between the United States, the British Empire, and the German Empire.
Terms
Based on the treaty, Samoa became independent and was allowed to choose its own king to rule it. However, the king would be advised by the United States, Great Britain, and Germany. In 1899, the treaty was replaced by the Treaty of Berlin (1899).
