University of California, Santa Barbara
The University of California, Santa Barbara (also referred to as UCSB and UC Santa Barbara) is a research university in Santa Barbara, California, United States.[1] The third-oldest of the ten major campuses affiliated with the University of California, Santa Barbara offeres 87 undergraduate and 55 graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines. The main campus is located on a 1,022-acre (414 ha) site in Santa Barbara, California, 100 miles (160 km) northwest of Los Angeles. The University was founded in 1909 and joined the University of California-system in 1944.
UC Santa Barbara is a "very high activity" research university.[2] UCSB houses twelve national research centers.[3] UCSB faculty includes five Nobel Prize laureates, one Fields Medalist, 29 members of the United States National Academy of Sciences, 27 members of the National Academy of Engineering, and 23 members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
