Edits

I am curious what tool you are using to make your reference edits? Some of them seem to be getting done so fast its hard to believe they are all being done by hand. -DJSasso (talk) 03:01, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Just multiple tabs, I tend to leave the edit window open and move to the next page, and then go back and review the edit a second or third time before saving. That way I tend to catch more errors. It may seem that they are closely time, its just a result of my work flow. Nunabas (talk) 03:50, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
No that is cool, I was mostly curious because I was wondering if I could do something differently. But that makes sense. -DJSasso (talk) 15:50, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
So I noticed you made a very large number of edits recently that was very clearly not a couple of tabs open at the same time. You are clearly using unauthorized semi-automated or bot editing, continuing to do so will lead to a block. -Djsasso (talk) 19:49, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
I was working my way thru Special:UncategorizedPages, I was reviewing every edit, and with the macros I had at hand you could say it was semi-automatic, but robots would have been unable to identify things like this while doing the uncategorized tagging. Nunabas (talk) 19:42, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
Macro's are considered to be semi-automated editing in the same way that AWB is. The issue is partially speed of editing, but also the mass editing of pages. For example you mass added the uncategorized tag (amongst others) to a very large number of articles. That is a task we would have rejected had someone come to us requesting access to AWB to do it because mass addition of tags to articles is highly frowned upon here. Other examples is changes to articles which only relate to white space which I have noticed some edits doing. I can appreciate that you are only trying to help, but automated editing in any manner that isn't specifically approved is not allowed, edits must be done manually. -Djsasso (talk) 19:53, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Categorizing

Thank you so much for all the categorizing you've been doing! I've looked at some of your work in that area, and you're doing a good job of including all the appropriate categories.

I would ask one thing: it would help if you make sure that sorting is taken care of. With biographical articles, this is usually done by adding a defaultsort (most biographical articles should have that). Most non-biographical articles don't need a defaultsort, but may need sort keys specified on one or more individual categories. There is information about sorting at Wikipedia:Categories#Sorting, andI am happy to answer any questions you have.

Thanks again! --Auntof6 (talk) 00:15, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

DEFAULTSORT needed

As mentioned above, please include a DEFAULTSORT when categorizing a biographical article. There is information about this at Wikipedia:Categories#Sorting of people. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:42, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
