Kim Tae-hyung (born December 30, 1995) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, record producer and actor. He is also better known mononymously as V and Taehyung.

He is known for being a member and one of the four vocalists of the South Korean Boy group BTS. Since his debut in 2013, V has been recognized for his distinct baritone vocal range and his contributions to the group’s discography. In 2023, he made his official solo debut with the album Layover, and as of 2026, he remains one of the most influential figures in global pop culture and fashion.

Early Life and Education

V was born in the Seo District of Daegu, South Korea, and raised in Geochang County. He first aspired to be a professional singer in elementary school and began taking saxophone lessons in middle school with his father’s encouragement. After passing an audition in Daegu, when his friend was suposed to audition, instead, V passed the audition and he became a trainee for Big Hit Entertainment.
